In this blog post, we take a delightful journey through the history of Negroni Week, a celebration close to our hearts, and explore how our brand has been a part of this global cocktail movement. Join us as we raise our glasses to the origins and evolution of Negroni Week.

The Negroni Cocktail: A Classic Italian Icon

Before we dive into the history of Negroni Week, let's first pay homage to the Negroni cocktail itself. This legendary drink traces its roots to early 20th-century Italy. It's said that Count Camillo Negroni, a regular at Caffè Casoni in Florence, requested a stronger version of his favorite cocktail, the Americano. Bartender Fosco Scarselli obliged, substituting soda water with gin and adding an orange slice as a garnish, giving birth to the Negroni as we know it today.

Negroni Week: A Modern Tradition

Fast forward to 2013, when Negroni Week made its debut. Imbibe Magazine and Campari initiated this week-long celebration of the Negroni in the United States. It was more than just an opportunity to toast this classic cocktail; it was a call to action to give back to the community. Participating bars and restaurants pledged to donate a portion of their Negroni sales to charitable causes.

The Philanthropic Spirit of Negroni Week

The charitable aspect of Negroni Week struck a chord with cocktail enthusiasts and establishments worldwide. It transformed the event from a simple celebration into a global movement raising significant charity funds. It's heartwarming to see how a beloved cocktail can bring people together to make a positive impact on society.

This Negroni Week, we’re hosting Transformation: A Pop-up Collaborative Art Exhibit. This event will benefit Mental Health Colorado, an organization that advocates for every Coloradan who experiences a mental health or substance use condition each year. They engage policymakers, providers, the public, and the press to promote mental well-being, ensure equitable access to mental health and substance use care, and end discrimination.
